Evolving Reactive NPCs for the Real-Time Simulation Game

چکیده
AI in computer games has been highlighted in recent, but manual designing costs a great deal. An evolutionary algorithm has developed strategies to play games without using features that would commonly require the knowledge of developers. Since the real-time reactive selection of behaviors for NPCs is required for better playing, a reactive behavior system consisting neural networks is presented. Using only the raw information on games, the evolutionary algorithm optimizes the reactive behavior system based on a co-evolutionary method. For demonstration of the proposed method, we have developed a real-time simulation game called ‘Build & Build’. As the results, we have obtained emergent and interesting behaviors that are adaptive to the environment, and confirmed the applicability of evolutionary approach to designing NPCs’ behaviors without relying on human expertise.

Is the Role of Physicians Really Evolving Due to Non-physician Clinicians Predominance in Staff Makeup in Sub-Saharan African Health Systems?; Comment on “Non-physician Clinicians in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Evolving Role of Physicians”
Health workforce shortages in Sub-Saharan Africa are widely recognized, particularly of physicians, leading the training and deployment of Non-physician clinicians (NPCs). The paper by Eyal et al provides interesting and legitimate viewpoints on evolving role of physicians in context of decisive increase of NPCss in Sub-Saharan Africa. Certainly, in short or mid-term, NPCs will continue to be a...
متن کاملNon-physician Clinicians – A Gain for Physicians’ Working in Sub-Saharan Africa; Comment on “Non-physician Clinicians in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Evolving Role of Physicians”
The changing demands on the health sectors in low- and middle-income countries especially sub-Saharan African countries continue to challenge efforts to address critical shortages of the health workforce. Addressing these challenges have led to the evolution of “non-physician clinicians” (NPCs), that assume some physician roles and thus mitigate the continuing shortage of doctors in these count...
متن کاملNon-physician Clinicians in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Evolving Role of Physicians
Responding to critical shortages of physicians, most sub-Saharan countries have scaled up training of nonphysician clinicians (NPCs), resulting in a gradual but decisive shift to NPCs as the cornerstone of healthcare delivery. This development should unfold in parallel with strategic rethinking about the role of physicians and with innovations in physician education and in-service training. In ...
متن کاملPotentials of Evolving Linear Models in Tracking Control Design for Nonlinear Variable Structure Systems
Evolving models have found applications in many real world systems. In this paper, potentials of the Evolving Linear Models (ELMs) in tracking control design for nonlinear variable structure systems are introduced. At first, an ELM is introduced as a dynamic single input, single output (SISO) linear model whose parameters as well as dynamic orders of input and output signals can change through ...
متن کاملGP-RARS: evolving controllers for the Robot Auto Racing Simulator
We use evolutionary computation techniques to create real-time reactive controllers for a race-car simulation game: RARS (Robot Auto Racing Simulator). Using genetic programming to evolve driver controllers, we create highly generalized game-playing agents, able to outperform most human-crafted controllers and all machine-designed ones on a variety of game tracks.
